Green Tourism at
Little Oakhurst

Book your stay at Little Oakhurst

Little Oakhurst sits in the heart of the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We take our responsibility to protect this landscape seriously and are always looking for ways to care for the land, reduce our impact and support the environment that surrounds us. For guests choosing sustainable glamping Lancashire stays, this page shares the values and actions that shape everything we do.

We want every guest to enjoy a peaceful escape while also feeling connected to nature and the principles we work by.

Our commitment

We continuously look for ways to improve our sustainability and encourage green eco escapes where guests are mindful of energy use, waste reduction and the beautiful surroundings they have come to enjoy.

Our policy and our green story

From construction to daily maintenance, we follow clear measures to minimise our environmental impact. We review this policy every year.

Here are some of the ways we support sustainable tourism:

  • Most furnishings are vintage or pre loved, giving items a second home and creating our cosy spaces

  • We use solar lighting outdoors because we are in an official dark sky area

  • We have planted trees and bushes around the site to support wildlife and have seen the return of Tawny and Barn owls

  • Complimentary toiletries and washing up liquid are refilled through Little Green Footprint at Clitheroe Market to reduce single use plastic

  • We use energy efficient bulbs throughout the site

  • We are an accredited dark skies business and perfectly placed for star gazing

  • Maps and cycling routes are available free of charge to encourage guests to explore the outdoors

  • E Bikes are available to hire on site

  • Some hedgerows are left to grow naturally to create wildlife corridors

  • Recycling bins for glass, plastic and tins are provided and guests are encouraged to recycle

  • We are proud members of Champion Bowland, a charity that helps protect and enhance the Forest of Bowland landscape

Projects we are currently working on

We are actively working on reducing our water usage across the site.

We are also improving energy efficiency in our shepherd’s huts by upgrading insulation and heating methods to support long term sustainable glamping in Lancashire.
